Catholic Scouts & Guides - Jordan
The Catholic Scouts and Guides is a non-political voluntary educational movement, open to all without distinction of origin, gender, or creed, following the purpose, principles, and method of Scouting.
The main objective of the Scouting and Guiding Movement is to contribute to the education and development of young men and women to maximize their spiritual, mental, social, and physical abilities as individuals and responsible citizens in their local, national, and global communities.
Objectives of Scouting
- Preparing members of the scouts to be responsible citizens
- To instill a respect for nature and encourage responsible stewardship of the environment.
- To Encourage the physical, intellectual, social, emotional, and spiritual development of young people
- To instill virtues and good morals.
- To teach practical skills and competencies such as leadership, teamwork, outdoor survival, and self-reliance.
- To develop leadership skills and provide opportunities for young people to take on leadership roles and responsibilities.
- To support the personal development of young people by setting and achieving goals, building confidence, and encouraging self-discovery.
- To foster a sense of social responsibility and encourage service to others through community projects and volunteer work.
- To cultivate a sense of citizenship and involvement in the community, emphasizing the importance of contributing positively to society.
Three Principles of Scouting
1. Responsibility to God: Engaging in prayer, spiritual growth, religious services, and participating in religious ceremonies.
2. Responsibility to Others: Contributing to community service, showing respect and providing assistance to the elderly, supporting and nurturing the younger generation.
3. Responsibility to Self: Enhancing personal development in physical health, intellectual pursuits, and scientific knowledge.
A brief overview of the history and activities of the Latin Scouts and Guides in Jordan:
The Catholic Scouts and Guides in Jordan was founded in 1989, thanks to the efforts of several leaders of the Latin Scouts at that time. Its purpose is to serve as an umbrella organization for all registered Latin Scout groups in Jordan, facilitating coordination, preparing for joint activities, and representing these groups both internally and externally.

Officially recognized by the Jordanian Scouts and Guides Association in 1994, all groups are either registered with the community scouting and guiding sector or are in the process of registration. Since 1994, the organization has been a member of the Catholic Scout Conference, aligned with the Europe and Mediterranean region, which was led by Commander Bashar Muasher, a key leader in the organization. Additionally, since 2004, it has been part of the Catholic Guiding Conference, associated with the Middle East region. The groups encompass around 2,000 members of various ages involved in the scouting movement.
