Youth in Galilee

General Secretariat for the Youth in Galilee

Who are we

Known as the "Youth Pastoral Office”, which was established by Fr. Ramez Twal, Chaplain of the Youth in Galilee, in the year 2023, on the Feast of Jesus Christ the King. The office was officially inaugurated by His Beatitude Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem. The official members of the Secretariat were installed during a Mass celebrated by Msgr. Rafiq Nahra.

Young men and women volunteer their time and efforts to help run the office through different roles: the Secretary-General, Deputy Secretary General, Secretary, Head of Training and Development, Media Officer, Events Officer, Prayer organizer, Logistics manager, Young Adult Group leader, Teen and Junior Youth Group leader, and Children Youth Group leader.

Our vision

To cultivate and guide a creative, active, and innovative generation, who will make a positive and lasting impact on the Catholic Church as a whole, and on the local church, in specific. This will be achieved through youth engagement in activities, schools, and the social fabric, while also highlighting the importance of voluntary work in serving the Church and the neighbor (Luke 10:25-37) through the youth's activities.

Our mission

Guided by the spirit of the Gospel, we volunteer to serve our brothers and sisters in Galilee, supporting their skill development by organizing meetings, activities, and spiritual retreats. We also promote the exchange of youth experiences between local and external communities and develop volunteer projects and workshops aimed at their spiritual and cultural growth. Our mission is to empower the youth in both personal and community roles, offering programs that are valuable and tailored to their needs.

Our values are rooted in the Bible:
  • Faith and Love: "We have come to know and believe in the love God has for us. God is love, and whoever remains in love remains in God, and God in them." (1 John 4:16)
  • Joy and Passion: "Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice!" (Philippians 4:4)
  • Belonging and Commitment: "For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain." (Philippians 1:21)
  • Excellence and Creativity: "We have different gifts according to the grace given to each of us..." (Romans 12:6)
  • Leadership and Humility: "Whoever wants to be great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your slave." (Matthew 20:26-27)
  • Service and Teamwork: "Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven." (Matthew 5:16)
  • Connection to Holy sites in the Holy Land (the Fifth Gospel)
