On Saturday, May 25th, 2024, the 17th World Conference for Christian Youth concluded in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, which also celebrated its Independence Day, by celebrating a Mass presided over by the Former Latin Patriarch Fuad Twal. The Mass was attended by several priests, sisters, representatives of different churches, civil and media authorities, former trustees, and youth from different parts of the World, as well as the Jordanian Youth.
In his homily, Mgr Twal addressed the global youth, who represent the flock of Christ that answered to His calling, urging them to take responsibility for the youth in their communities and to take back to their countries the experiences and knowledge they have gained from this conference. He prayed, asking God to accompany them, on their journey and to fill them with courage to be witnesses of the truth.
At the end of Mass, Mr. Innocent Odongo, the World Secretary-General, accompanied by Mr. Roy Ibrahim, Coordinator of the World Trustee Programs, thanked all those who contributed to the success of the conference, the World Trustees, and the local team in Jordan, which is represented by Fr. Wajdi Twal, the chaplain of the youth, Ibrahim Muslim, Secretary-General, and Sarah Al Jamal, Middle East Coordinator.
The Secretary-General Ibrahim Muslim expressed his joy for the great achievement of the conference despite the difficulties the country is undergoing due to security. He likened the enthusiasm of the youth, as a testimony to this year's theme - "Let your light shine"- chosen by the General Secretariat of Christian Youth in Jordan. This will encourage the youth to have a positive impact on society, their nation, and the Church. On behalf of the Jordan Trustee, he thanked all those who supported the General Secretariat of Christian Youth in Jordan.
